Welcome to the Ladies Section

The Bristol & Clifton ladies section has over 120 members of all ages and playing ability and so whether you have been a golfer for some time, or are a complete beginner, you will be in good company. We play various formats of organised golf on a Tuesday, both fun golf as well as club trophies, medals and stablefords.

For those new members who like competition, we have teams in the Bristol and District Ladies Alliance where we play six different clubs home and away, the format being scratch match play. Our first team has been particularly successful in winning Division One of the League seven times in the last eight years. In addition we are undefeated in the annual match against the winners of the Gloucester League. We also have 'friendlies' against eight other local clubs which is a greensomes format and provides a good mixture of competitive golf and a social occassion meeting visitors from other clubs at the after match tea.

We take pride in making sure that new members are made to feel welcome by allocating a 'mentor' to effect introductions and show them how to get involved with the life of the Club. Various 'roll ups' are arranged both during the week and at the weekend and so you will never be short of playing companions. Mixed golf is popular at the Club and we have seven mixed foursomes events held on a Sunday through the year which are followed by a supper and prize giving.  We also have a mixed foursomes match play knockout, 2 seniors v ladies matches, and a winter foursomes knockout called The Claret Jug. There is an active and varied social program throughout the year where all members and friends are welcome.

The standard of the Club and our facilities is perhaps best judged by the fact that we will be hosting the Ladies Amateur Open Stroke Play competition during 2016 which is one of the four foremost national events run by English Golf. Our course has good drainage and so we enjoy excellent winter golf generally with no restriction in the use of power trolleys. We also have a fleet of 6 top of the range buggies available for hire.

To summarize, our busy and successful Ladies Section is part of a traditional but forward thinking club.  We welcome new members at any time and please see the membership page to complete an application form, or telephone our Club Manager, Mark Betteridge on 01275 393474 for further information.
