Bristol & Clifton Golf Club

Welcome to the Junior Section of Bristol & Clifton Golf Club

Junior Captain 2019: Issy Hopkins

We are proud of our active Junior Section which has in excess of 70 members, ranging in age from 6 to 17.

We provide a warm and welcoming environment for all standards of junior golf, from novices to team players.  We have a structure in place that allows Juniors to develop into team players through coaching and practice.

As well as offering free range balls to all Juniors, we are also delighted to offer complimentary Junior membership to any child whose parent, guardian or grandparent is a Full Member at the Club.  However, it is very important that parents/guardians complete the 'Emergency Contact Form' detailing any medical issues, allergies, disabilities etc.  Membership will only be agreed once the form has been returned to the Club Office.

Competition & Team Golf

Throughout the year we hold a variety of qualifying Junior competitions for both active handicap players and for those looking to obtain a 'competition' handicap.  The highlight of the Junior Calendar is our Junior Open which attracts players from all across the region.  We also hold a Junior Club Championship with trophies for both Best Gross and Nett.

Our Juniors also play in a competitive District League.  This involves 5 active handicap players in a matchplay format against other clubs, culminating in a play-off final. Our aim is to get our players actively involved in this League and compete, with hopes to one day win!

Friendly Golf

It's really important that as well as playing competitive golf, Juniors also have fun on the course.  We therefore actively encourage them to play with others on a social basis. We have set up social media platforms encourging Juniors to communicate with each other and organise get togethers.

Junior Coaching

Those new to the game can take part in Junior Coaching Sessions run by PGA Assistant Golf Professional, Nick Ramshaw.  Each session is £3 per Junior Member, or £5 per Junior visitor.  Booking and payment a month in advance is compulsory due to the limited number of spaces available.

Due to the popularity of Junior Coaching, we are running two separate sessions based on age: those between 6-9 years attend the 2pm sessions; those aged between 10-14 years attend at 3pm.

The full list of dates can be found here - if you would like to take part, simply email the Pro Shop team to book your place:

In addition the team also run weekly, Sunday afternoon roll-ups at 2pm for an hour.

  • Gerry Sweeney Cup (18 hole bogey competition)
