The Carris Trophy

We are delighted to have been asked by England Golf to host The Carris Trophy in July 2021. The Carris Trophy is an Amateur Stroke Play Open for English U18 Boys.

The championship attracts a top quality field of English and international players.

The 72-hole stroke play championship is played over four days. The full field plays 18 holes on each of the first two days. After 36 holes, the leading 60 competitors and ties play a further 18 holes on the third day, followed by a re-draw and a final 18 holes on the fourth day.

The winner will return the lowest gross score over 72 holes.

Girls Golf Rocks

Bristol & Clifton Golf Club is one of only a handful of clubs in the region to be chosen to part of the England Golf "Girls Golf Rocks" initiative. Girls Golf Rocks offers girls aged 5-18 free taster sessions, girls-only coaching courses and the chance to get out and play.

Complimentary Junior Memberships

We are offering complimentary membership to all juniors. This, along with a range of initiatives around coaching and competitions, is aimed at boosting our junior membership numbers and making Bristol & Clifton Golf Club the go-to club for youngsters wishing to play golf.

There are some terms and conditions however. Junior membership will be complimentary provided the junior already has a parent, grandparent or guardian as a Full Playing member of the club. For the avoidance of doubt, this means the Full membership and age/loyalty-related iterations thereof but not 5 Day, Flexible, Dual etc; Affiliation Fees (around £20 per junior) will still be charged.

Lastly, complimentary Junior membership will only be available where we are in receipt of a Junior Profile Form, which gives us the juniors’ emergency contact details, allergy information etc.

Golf Course Developments

We are continuing to enhance quality, the year-round playability and the overall aesthetics of the golf course. In recent months, among many smaller projects, we have:

  • Over 600 metres of new paths have been created for golf course machinery and for buggies and trollies in wet weather.
  • Completed the rebuild of over 250 metres of wall along our 16th hole. 100 metres of wall along our 9th hole has been cleared and repaired.
  • The old bungalow adjacent to the club car park has been demolished and the site cleared ready for exciting future development. The foundations and concrete plinth were salvaged for on course construction work.
  • Built a new tee complex built on the 9th. Using foundations recycled from the old bungalow site, the tee has been widened and the hole lengthened.
  • New greens drainage has been installed on holes 1, 7, 9, 17 and 18 using Shelton Drainage. Drainage lines have also been put into 3rd and 5th greens and also behind 15th &16th. In addition, drainage channels have also been dug and drainage pipes inserted on 16th fairway.
  • Trees shading the 10th green have been removed and new smaller specimens have been delivered to replace them.
  • An old bridge on the 14th hole has been rebuilt and widened.
